What Does this MRI Scan Result Mean?

Hi.

Following an MRI on my Left shoulder the report shows a mild high signal at the humeral attachement at the posterial band of the IGL (PIGHL) with mild ill-definition of the PIGHL fibres.

I haven't seen a surgen yet and it's hard to find much info. about this injury.

In short, do I need surgrey with such an injury.

Welcome to health care magic - I am Dr. Ganesh.

1.According to the findings as you have mentioned in your query, it looks inflammatory process.
2.If you have a history of trauma - and there is altered signal in the IGL fibers, suggest a tear.
3.If pain and discomfort and long standing symptoms - suggest infection / inflammatory changes.
4.Most probably you might need to see ortho specialist for this particular complaint.
5.Usually it need repair, as there is no much healing in this case.

Hope it helps you. any thing to ask, do not hesitate. Good luck.
